INTRODUCTION


In order to effectively lead as the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data, it is important to ensure an effective and successful entry into this district leadership role. This plan is designed to enable the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data to communicate and learn in a systematic, inclusive, and transparent manner through the implementation or continuation of the following: 

  • Engaging all stakeholders

  • Assessing the current curriculum strengths and determining areas for growth and improvement.

  • Reviewing and determining areas of immediate attention under the direction of the Superintendent.

  • Assessing current data and assessment information.

  • Setting the framework to develop appropriate plans of action where needed. 

  • Determining professional development needs for the district.



GOALS

The Plan of Entry is designed to accomplish the following goals:

 

  • Concentrate on curriculum and assessment development district-wide that focuses on student achievement. This will be attained by setting high expectations, closing achievement gaps, and meeting the needs of all students through the development and through analysis of curriculum development, implementation of programs, and continued review of assessment results.

  • Continue developing a positive working relationship between the Superintendent, building level administrators, teachers, and all other stakeholders.

  • Proactively ensure that staff is engaged in the process of curriculum and classroom assessment design, and create an understanding of its relationship to the overall performance and improvement of the school district.

  • Continue to promote the mission and goals of the school district.


OUTCOMES

Expected results of this Plan of Entry include:

 

  • Share findings, observations, and key understanding gained from the execution of the plan to the Superintendent.

  • Develop a positive working relationship with the Superintendent, building level administrators, teachers, and all other stakeholders.

  • Create a vision and purpose towards the development of curriculum, assessment, and professional development throughout the district.


STRUCTURE

This Plan of Entry encompasses the first 100 days.  The plan outlines specific core areas that are priorities for the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data.  Additional areas may be included as directed by the Superintendent. In order to ensure the Supervisor is meeting the needs of the district, there must be a level of positive interactions, cooperation, communication, and team building with the Superintendent.  

ENTRY PROCESS

 

  • Engage in one-on-one meetings with the Superintendent to build relationship and deepen curriculum and assessment understanding and perspective.

  • Develop a process and timeline to review academic data and develop a collaborative vision under the guidance of the Superintendent.

  • Develop opportunities to share presentations that focus on curriculum, instruction, and assessment development.  Encourage opportunities for Board of Education presentations outlining the vision and mission of the alignment of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.


Entry Process includes:
 

  • A focus on improving student achievement with the focus on working cohesively together with Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. 

  • Understanding the curriculum issues and the driving needs through feedback from building staff members and additional instructional supports members on current and future curriculum initiatives. 

  • Evaluate professional development to determine what has assisted in improving student academic achievements and consider recommendation to invest in ongoing professional development for all staff in order to emphasize the importance of professional growth and continuous learning community that supports teaching and learning.

  • Evaluate how assessment and data are being utilized by teachers and administration to target areas of strength and focus on areas of growth and improvement.

Communication and Community Relations


During the first 100 days and beyond, the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data, will focus on establishing an open and transparent communication with its stakeholders. 

Entry Process includes:

 

  • Establish networks with peer curriculum directors and professional organizations.

  • Establish times for stakeholders to meet with the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data, in an effort to initiate and build relationships and promote an open-door policy.

  • Visit the elementary and secondary buildings regularly to engage principals, teachers, support staff, and promote accessibility and visibility.

  • Meet and speak with students at the various schools to understand and seek feedback about their educational experiences.

  • Attend school functions, athletics, and community events to further promote district loyalty and pride.




At the end of the Plan of Entry, the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction, Testing, and Data, will meet with the Superintendent to share findings, propose plans, and collaborate to further determine the direction for continuous student growth and improvement in the area of curriculum and assessment.  The plan of entry may have additional information and/or adjustments as directed by the Superintendent.
